Our services

Gas & energy transition

For manufacturers on reticulated natural gas, the next energy decision matters. We help you understand the alternatives and move forward with a plan that protects production.

What we deliver

A practical path beyond gas.

Options assessment

Understand where gas is used, what your processes need and which efficiency or fuel-switching options are worth investigating.

Feasibility study

Compare technical requirements, costs, production impacts and delivery risks before committing capital.

Funding-ready business case

Bring the evidence together into a clear investment case for your organisation, participating bank or funding provider.

Implementation support

Coordinate trusted specialists and help keep the project aligned with your operational priorities.

How funding fits

Assess first.
Invest with confidence.

Funding can support the work needed to understand your options, as well as eligible investment in technology that reduces gas use.

Check your funding eligibility

EECA co-funding

Eligible businesses spending $30,000–$400,000 a year on piped gas may receive up to 50% of an options assessment cost, capped at $5,000 excluding GST. An EECA-approved provider must deliver the assessment. Energy audits and feasibility studies may also be co-funded.

Gas Transition Loan Guarantee Scheme

Eligible businesses using at least 1,000 GJ of gas annually can explore participating bank lending, with an 80% Crown guarantee. An assessment is a useful first step towards a funding-ready business case.

Information current as of October 2026. Eligibility is confirmed by EECA and participating banks.

Your questions

Gas transition,
in plain English.

Who is this service for?

New Zealand manufacturers using reticulated natural gas for process heat or other on-site requirements. We start with your production needs and assess whether efficiency improvements or alternative energy sources are practical.

Do we need to know which technology we want?

No. An options assessment is designed to compare suitable approaches before you choose a technology. The right option depends on your process temperatures, operating hours, infrastructure and future plans.

Can funding help with an assessment or a transition?

Potentially. EECA offers co-funding for eligible options assessments, energy audits and feasibility studies. The Gas Transition Loan Guarantee Scheme supports eligible bank lending for efficiency and gas-reducing technology. Eligibility and terms are confirmed by EECA and participating banks.

Will changing energy sources disrupt production?

Production continuity is a central part of the assessment. We consider shutdown windows, reliability, site constraints and implementation sequencing with your team and relevant specialists.

Are you an EECA-approved provider?

EECA-funded options assessments must be delivered by an EECA-approved provider. We can discuss the appropriate provider pathway for your project; provider status and eligibility should be checked directly with EECA.
